SUITABILITY OF ABDOS PLASTICS FOR FOODSTUFF

The phthalates for which opinions have been given by EFSA(European Food Safety Authorityand TDI’s (Tolerable Daily Intake) established for use in plastics for containers in food application, are not intentionally added in the manufacture of or the formulation of this product. The phthalates are di-isononly phthalate (DINP), DI-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), di-n- butyl phthalate (DBP), di-iso-decyl phthalate (DIDP), butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP). In addition, di-iso-butyl phthalate (DIBP) has recently been classified by TC C&L of ECB (Commission Working Group on Classification & Labeling – European Chemicals Bureau) in accordance with the requirements of Directive 67/548/EC (Classification and labeling of dangerous substance), taking into account a NOAEL, the toxicity of DIBP is more than 100 times lower than DNBP’s(product assessed by EFSA for use in plastics in contact with food). Phthalates are not used in the manufacture of or the formulation of any Abdos manufactured products.

Abdos manufactured products have passed the USP tests for a Class VI, physio-chemical testing and meets USP limits.

Abdos manufactured products are made from the base resin which meets the FDA requirements contained in the Code of Federal Regulation in 21 CFR 177. 1520 (a)(3)(i) and (c)3. 1a. 3. 2a. All other ingredients meet the requirements of their respective FDA regulations and 21 CFR 177.1520(b). All Abdos manufactured products meet the FDA criteria in 21 CFR 177 .1520 for food contact applications, including cooking.
